The other day someone at work was caught stealing toilet paper. Now on one hand I ask the question “Why?” I mean, it’s not like this is double ply, aloe infused, cute cuddly Charmin bear tp….this stuff is like tree bark. So the humorous side of me finds the whole situation quite comical. However, I have been thinking a lot lately about how awful that must feel to have to steal something as basic as toilet paper. No matter how bad my day, week, or month is….I haven’t had to swipe a roll of tp just to get by. OK…now that I got that squared away….

 I have a new hobby. I have been channeling my inner Flash Dance. Everyday when I get home from work I relieve Jen from baby duty for a while. During this time I have been turning the TV one of the music channels and dancing around the room with Julia in my arms. Not only do I find it relaxing and quite possibly therapeutic after a day of work, but Julia gets a kick out of it to. Did I mention I love my daughter? =)

This is a blog. It’s not some micro social network page full of Farmville updates and tweets. It would be cool if the people who enjoy my blog actually left some comments on the posts. I don’t care what you put. The nifty little dashboard shows me how many hits I’m getting, but it would be cool to see exactly who wasted a few minutes of their day to see what the heck I’m doing.

I should be writing a report right now on Analysis of an Ethical or Legal Dilemma in Information Technology…but that hardly sounds amusing. I find whenever I sit down to start typing a report; my mind wanders to other fictional topics that would be much more fulfilling to write about. It must be all of the Percy Jack and the Olympians I am reading right now. Now I find myself stuck in one of those lost moments, where I am able to type and type and type about everything else accept my very uninteresting report. “Gettin’ Grown” is a song by Cee-Lo. You know they guy that teamed up with DJ Danger Mouse to create the smash it “Crazy.” I don’t know if all of the lyrics of that song tell the story I am living, but the title sure does. I’m a dad…and if that doesn’t make you a “grown up”, then I don’t know what does. You see the two ladies in the image about this paragraph? That is my beautiful daughter Julia and my best friend and wife Jen. If Jen is my world, Julia is the sun that gives it life. I don’t believe its possible for my life to be any more complete. Becoming a dad changes you. I feel things…emotions…I never thought possible. I truly an amazing transformation. I can’t wait to see the world through my daughter’s eyes…it’s going to be a wild ride.

Wait…….I have a blog????? Turns out I do. Based off of the last entry, I have quite a bit of dust to knock off of this thing.  I created this blog with the thought that my life was interesting enough to tell other people about it. Turns out it probably isn’t, but I sure can make it seem that way! When I started this dealy-o I had plenty of time to sit down and write thoughtful things about nothing, but now the only time I sit down to write thoughtful things is for school. It’s unfortunate because I would much rather ramble on about nothing than trying to make stuff about project management sound insightful in hopes for an A.

Besides traveling to Orlando for a 535b reunion, traveling to ATL for my cousin’s awesome wedding, going to a local wedding, and catching a fever for a few days…not TOO much has been going on. Besides, you guys probably could careless about that. I would much rather use this as a forum for me to tell you about some crazy hamburger I saw the other day or complain about something so insignificant it’s fun to talk about.

With that being said hopefully this is a step in the direction of getting this bad boy up and running again. Until next time……Keep the comments flowing.

Man it has been far to long since i updated the ol’ blog. I guess i haven’t really had much to rant about. Well that has finally come to an end…aren’t you thrilled?!?! My company has provided me Vista health care for the past 5 years. One of the best perks was a free membership to 24 hour fitness. Well the overlords at Vista decided they no longer want to offer free gym memberships with their plans. So as fate would have it, it looks like i am back to paying a freaking membership fee to be surrounded by a bunch of  d bags with blow outs. I swear it’s like they crawl out of some greasy cave around 5pm, go to their favorite hair salon to get a fresh blow out, stab themselves in the ass with a syringe and inject the horse hormones and head right over to 24 hour fitness to work out. And now i get to pay a monthly fee to watch them admire each other in the mirrors before they go back into the locker room to do “military presses”. Oh well that’s all i have for now.

Things have been pretty normal for me the past week or two. I haven’t run into anything that has enraged me enough to blog about it. I recently celebrated my 1 year anniversary with my wonderful wife. We had a really nice time hanging out on the beaches in Naples for a few days. Then I went up to Tallahassee for homecoming 2008. It was a bit of an odd trip. Something just seemed to be off the entire time. The tailgate was missing the normal crew, FSU lost to BC, I almost froze to death in the stands, I really didn’t get to catch up with my old friends like I would have liked to, and to top it all off we had to skip Cracker Barrel because everyone and their mom was there. Oh well maybe next year I will go out on a limb and do alumni band again. Next week I head up to Atlanta for Thanksgiving. Unfortunately Jen has to stay behind because hospitals never close =(…. Oh well sorry I didn’t really have anything off the wall funny or weird to  write about, but in a way that’s a good thing.

It’s been a little while since i have posted anything on the ol’ blog, but something tells me no one really cares anyway. For those of you that don’t know, there is an amazing place to get your wings fix called Hurricane Grill and Wings. I learned of this place about a year ago, and can say hands down they have the best wings i have ever had. After the Noles earned their victory over VT the wife and i decided to go grab a bite to eat. Around this time last year Hurricane grill was serving this seasonal brew called Jack’s pumpkin spiced ale. It was one of the most amazing beers i have ever had. It kinda of made me want to go rake up leaves and bake a turkey..ya know fall type stuff.  Well i had been craving pumpkin beer all week, and when we finally get there… the waitress looks at me with a sad face and says they ran out.  The pumpkin gods were frowning upon me. To make things worse i find out they have taken my most favorite wing sauce flavor, spicy piña colada, off the menu. At least the food was still really good, and my buddy Sam Adams stopped by to help ease the pain of the shortage of pumpkin ale. So the quest continues to consume a pumpkin ale before fall is over and it gets replaced with some crappy winter beer.

So i’m doing the normal Sunday shopping with the wife when all of the sudden something goes terribly wrong. I’m strolling down the soda aisle when i realize all of the 12 packs have vanished! Instead i find something weird called an 8 pack. If that wasn’t enough, sitting right next to it like a weird Uncle is an 18 pack. What the hell is going on here? An 8 pack isn’t quite enough and an 18 pack is for someone who has a soda addiction and needs to inject it into their veins. It’s like some kind of sick dream. Then things got even stranger. When i got home, reports of mass pandemonium were all over the news. Here was one of the segments showing just what type of damage these crazy new 8 packs are causing….

So it’s been a little over 4 years since i received my undergrad degree. I was never really sure whether or not my field of study warranted a Master’s degree. I recently attended a 3 day seminar in Seattle, WA on IT project management. I guess that was the turning point. I have been bitten by the education bug and have decided to get back on the grind. So starting October 6th i will be pursuing a Masters of Science in Information Technology with a concentration in Project Management from Capella University. Capella is one of the new fangled online universities. It actually is one of the largest. I was a little sceptical at first, but i did my homework and found that Capella has partnerships with major corporations like Johnson & Johnson and is recognized by PMI (The Project Management Institute). So i am very interested to see how earning a degree 100% online goes. It will be very strange with out any face to face interaction and no brick and mortar classroom to attend. It will be quite the opposite from the good ol’ days at FSU.

There is one other thing i thought i would share. When ever i get second thoughts about this back to school thing, I just think about this little ditty and everything seems right again
